Welcome

SHIPPING HAS ENDED FOR THE SPRING SEASON. Please do NOT place orders now; the website is in no way up to date, and we will only ask you to check back in late August if you're interested in ordering. We aren't equipped to back-order plants for fall; we don't necessarily know that particular plants will be available, or if we know we're growing them we may not know how large they'll be or how they'll be priced. We love you all, but we'd be really grateful if you'd just leave us to our propagating, potting, gardening and contemplation of nature, and come back again in late August. Really.
QUANTITY DISCOUNTS
We are primarily a retail nursery, but we do offer some quantity discounts, as follows:
Any time you order 3 of 1 item that is grown in 8-oz or 14-oz pots, we will treat the threesome as 1 item for shipping purposes. The shopping cart will not show this adjustment; we'll make it here, on your invoice, and e-mail you a copy when we confirm your order.
We discount shipping on orders over $300 that can be shipped via UPS Ground service. Because the amount of the discount varies with the contents of your order (bulky or not, easy to pack or not, etc) we will quote you a shipping cost when we confirm your order. In general, we just charge 15% of the plant total to ship these orders.
Purchasing plants by the flat: In some cases, we have enough plants to sell them by the flat (numbers per flat vary with pot size). In these cases, we usually discount the plant price by 20% and ship at cost (UPS plus a boxing fee). Plants will not be individually wrapped if they're tightly rooted out. If you are interested in purchasing anything by the flat, e-mail us to inquire about availability.
NOTICES (please read before proceeding)
(1) Our shopping cart is not "automated" - it doesn't do anything other than collect your ordering information and deliver it to us. It does not reserve plants nor run charges. Thus, it is possible that something you successfully order will already be sold out, even though the website sends you an automated confirmation of the order. The effective recording of your order occurs here, where we reserve your plants and e-mail you a confirmation with an attached copy of your invoice.
(2) As always, you are welcome to submit partial orders and add to them until a few days before your shipping date. We will consolidate your orders, eliminate duplicate base shipping charges, and e-mail you a copy of your updated invoice each time you make a change. Your credit card will not be charged until shortly before we ship your order (so do be sure the expiration date is after your shipping date, please).
(3) We no longer publish a paper catalog. The vast majority of our orders now come from the website, and the ease with which we can add entries, create "specials", add photographs, and indicate plant availability makes the website vastly superior to the static and too-soon out-of-date printed catalog. If you crave a paper version, you can print one off the website by clicking on the "Print this page" link at the top right corner of each page.
We use several different pot sizes in production. Federal regulations require that pot sizes be given as liquid volume, and that is what you'll find at the end of each plant entry, just before the price. To help you interpret these we offer the following:
8 fl.oz.(235ml) - Mostly 2.5" square, 3.375" deep; a few are 2.25" square and 3.25" deep, so roughly 7 fl. oz.
14 fl.oz.(412ml) - 2.375" square, 5" deep tree band
1.25 pt (588ml) - 2.875" square, 5.5" deep tree band
1.5 pt (706ml) - 3.625" square, 4.5" deep bandpot
1.1 qt (1.06L) - 4.125" square, 4.875" deep
1.5 qt (1.4L) - 5" square, 5.625" deep
Plants are shipped in their pots, with three exceptions:
: bare-root dormant tubers
: all plants shipped to AZ, CA, OR and WA; some plants shipped to AK and TX, at our discretion
: large plants (1.1 qt or 1.5 qt) may, at our discretion, be removed from their pots, relieved of any excess potting mix, and wrapped for shipping
